High Fever

Today is the third day since Isaac’s fever started and it has not subsided yet. It all started very early on Tuesday, around 2.30 am. We were sleeping soundly when we discovered that he’s having a fever so as usual, we gave him paracetamol and continued sleeping and thought nothing of it.

On the same Tuesday, we brought him to the doctor and were prescribed with the same medicine and you guessed it right, paracetamol again. On this day he started complaining of stomach ache and vomited at Sunway Hospital. Doctor said to monitor his fever and it will go away in about 2-3 days time.

On Wednesday, after seeing that he has not recover one bit and his stomach ache got worst, we went to another doctor for a 2nd opinion and this time the doctor said that he has bacteria infection in his small intestines and this causes his gut to cramp every time food or water is taken. He advised us not to give him milk and to monitor his fever. Oh and he prescribed paracetamol, something for vomiting and some supplements.

We went back thinking that this will help him to recover but boy we were wrong. His condition turned worst on Thursday and his fever is still around the 38 ‘C. We decided to wait and see how his condition will turn the next day and we were given the answer that same night. He tossed and turn the whole night saying that his stomach hurts and the fever continued. All of us did not get much sleep and we decided to take him back to Sunway Hospital the very next morning.

This morning on Friday, the doctor in Sunway said that he has wind in his tummy and was not stomach ulcer or intestine twisted like we suspected so he gave us paracetamol and wind medicine. After taking this new medicine, Isaac was complaining of stomach ache even more and his highest temperature recorded was 39.9’C and that got us very, very worried. We called the doctor again for advice and he said that this has been prolonged for too long and told us to admit him to Sunway Hospital. We were reluctant at first but we can’t stand to see our son suffer anymore.

At that moment Karen told us to see a Chinese physician that can cure ‘G mou tan’ and we were desperate to try anything other than to admit him. So off we go to see this lady and she rub some Chinese medicine all over his body and this made him a little better. We were to give him some whitish powder every 3 ½ hours. His fever went down to around 37’C although he was not given any paracetamol and there were less complaining of tummy ache. Well it seems like this is working and let’s not celebrate too soon and keep our fingers crossed.
